Welcome to the River Valley School District website!
February 2012
As we begin the second semester of the 2011/12 school year, I would like to congratulate Rich Sullivan on his recent retirement from RV. Mr. Sullivan started his career at New Troy in 1977, and spent over 30 years serving our students and community. I would like to thank Mr. Sullivan for his years of service and wish him a long and relaxing retirement. I would like to welcome Colby Caid to our district, who will be taking Mr. Sullivan’s place. Mr. Caid, who is a graduate of RV, was most recently teaching in Florida. He will also be coaching baseball for us. We are pleased to have Colby join our staff.
During November and December, we conducted a community survey to gather feedback from community members regarding district/community relations and communication. I would like to thank the 92 community members who responded to the survey. The survey results compiled in a graph and data format are available on the home page of our district website at www.rivervalleyschools.org. A summary of the results are also included in this newsletter. The feedback we received will be helpful as we work to improve our district in these areas.
As the board prepares to evaluate my performance for this school year, staff and community members will have an opportunity to provide input to the board of education regarding my performance. Staff and community members will have an opportunity to complete a survey on my performance as your superintendent. This survey will be open from February 21 through March 12. There will be a link to this survey on the home page of the district website. A link to the survey will also be included in the Elementary and Middle/High School newsletters that go out every week. After the survey closes, the results will be provided to the board of education prior to completing my performance evaluation.
There will be a parent and community meeting on Thursday, February 16th starting at 6:00 p.m. at Chikaming Elementary. The purpose of the meeting is to gather community feedback regarding some ideas that are being considered for the 2012/13 school year. All parents and community members are encouraged to come out and share your thoughts with us.
