Geography
We just received new books that we will be using this year, but our last set of books still have lots of valuable information. For that reason, we will be using both sets of books throughout the year. Every student will receive one of the new books (that I hope you will put a cover on), which will stay with them until the school year ends. The older books will be used in the classroom, and will be available for take-home use on a sign-out basis. In the syllabus below, “green” refers to a chapter in the new book, and “blue” refers to a chapter in the old book.
First Semester:
- Chapter 1 (Green)
- Chapter 2 (Green)
- Chapter 3 (Green)
- Chapter 4 (Blue)
- Chapter 4 (Green)
- Chapter 6 (Green)
- Chapter 10 (Blue)
- Chapter 11 (Blue)
- Chapter 12 (Blue)
- Chapter 13 (Blue)
Second Semester:
- Chapter 7 (Green)
- Chapter 8 (Green)
- Chapter 9 (Green)
- Chapter 16 (Blue)
- Chapter 19 (Blue)
- Chapter 20 (Blue)
- Chapter 21 (Blue)
- Chapter 22 (Blue)
- Chapter 17 (Blue)
- Chapter 18 (Blue)
- Chapter 16 (Green)
- Chapter 17 (Green)
- Chapter 18 (Green)
- Chapter 19 (Green)
- Chapter 20 (Green)
- Chapter 21 (Green)
Don’t let the number of chapters scare you, the green book chapters are quite short, and there are more of them. The blue book chapters give more depth on individual countries, and give the student a better look at the world. Both books were published by the same company, so information is consistent. Look through the chapters listed above (at least in the green books, for now), and get an idea of the areas we’ll be covering this year. It’s a big world out there!!!!!!

World History
Last year’s World History students received these books new at the beginning of the second semester, and we covered the chapters in the right column (second semester) with them. The first semester outline, then, is tentative. If we complete the first semester list, we’ll start into the second semester list before the end of the first semester.
First Semester Second Semester
Chapter 6
Chapter 1 Chapter 15
Chapter 2 Chapter 9
Chapter 3 Chapter 10
Chapter 4 Chapter 12
Chapter 5 Chapter 13
Chapter 7 Chapter 14
Chapter 8 Chapter 17
Chapter 11 Chapter 18
Chapters 19-26 were not covered last year, but we are likely to cover many of them this year. Many of these
chapters include overlapping concepts from U.S. History, but are written from a larger “World” perspective.
