Math

I work closely with the teachers of 8th Grade US History, 9th Grade US History, 7th Grade Geography, and 10th Grade World History as students work on their Individual Education Plan goals and objectives while being exposed to the curricular concepts taught in these classes. Students in these classes should refer to their teachers' webpages for class descriptions, guidelines, and class assignments.

I also teach Study Skills and a Math class. Information on those classes can be found below.

Study Skills

Goals:

  1. Learn techniques to improve your study skills, such as note taking, testing, time management, and organizational skills.
  2. Develop the habit of independent work.
  3. Develop the sense of personal responsibility as students take charge of their own learning.
  4. Reinforce specific skills in which students may be weak especially those indicated in students’ IEPs.

Grading Procedure and Policy:

Your grade is based on assignments and the weekly point sheet.

  2. Be on time.  I follow the school handbook policy on Tardies.  (See handbook page 13.)

Classroom Rules & Responsibilities:

  1. Be in your seat when class starts.  Be prepared with a pencil/pen, your materials folder, and your textbook.  Bring a book to read, homework to work on, etc.  Passes will not be given the first 15 minutes of class.
  2. No excessive talking in class.  Detentions will be assigned for disrupting class.
  3. Cell Phones and CD Players/MP3 Players and other electronics are not permitted.  If brought to class, they will be turned in to the office.  (See handbook pages 32 and 42)
  4. The teacher’s desk is off limits to any student.
  5. Food and drinks will not be permitted in the classroom.

Task

Explanation

On Time (10 pts.)

This means to be in the classroom before the bell rings.  This does not include running in the door at the last second.

Brought appropriate materials (10 pt.)

If you have to go to your locker (or Mrs. Pincek’s room or Mrs. Shuler’s room) that means you did not bring what you need.  If you do not have a pen or pencil, you did not bring what you need.  If you “have nothing to do” then you did not bring what you need.

Used class time effectively (20 pt.)

You do not get points if you sleep, scribble on a piece of paper, write notes to your friends, etc.

Follows directions (10 pt.)

Do not argue with me about how or why to do something.

Correct seating (10 pt.)

Sit in your assigned seat and if asked to move, do so without arguing or wasting time.

Appropriate behavior/language (20 pt.)

This includes talking, inappropriate language, throwing things, physical contact, arguing, etc…

Does not disturb others (10 pt.)

Treat others with respect.

Cleans up materials (10 pt.)
