We look forward to working with Neighbor By Neighbor and this partnership to ensure our kids have the food they need so they can focus on learning so they can fulfill their potential.
Neighbor by Neighbor Introduces Food for Thought
Blessings in a Backpack is now Food for Thought, sponsored by Neighbor by Neighbor. The Food for Thought program helps ensure students have nutritious, non-perishable food to take home each weekend.
Neighbor by Neighbor serves as a lifeline for neighbors in SW Berrien County in crisis by addressing immediate, essential needs—food, housing and utilities. NbyN also facilitates things like education and connections to other trusted resources (neighborbyneighbor.org)
After thirteen years, Vickie Wagner is stepping down after building and managing a program that has had a significant impact on students, their families and the community. Her tireless efforts every week to ensure students would have adequate food for the weekend serve as an inspiration.
Children can participate in the Food for Thought program to receive a bag of non-perishable food every Friday. Bags will be dispensed in a discreet and caring manner. This program runs through the end of the school year. There is no cost associated with this program courtesy of a grant from The Pokagon Fund as well as private donations.
Enrollment in the program is confidential; only the school administrators and individual classroom teachers know the participants. The bags are coded with numbers, not names.
If you wish for your child to participate in the program please contact the school office.
