Oktoberfest: Celebrating Community and Supporting River Valley by: Abbigail Shaw

On September 18-20, the River Valley Mustangs Foundation hosted a celebration filled with food, music and spaß! Oaktoberfest was held at the Three Oaks American Legion Post 204. The festival was a tremendous success, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

The family-friendly event featured live German music, delicious food, craft beer, games, and activities under the pavilion, offering something for everyone. Adults and children enjoyed games such as volleyball and a scavenger hunt, while the lively atmosphere kept the celebration going throughout each day. Although the weekend brought plenty of rain, it certainly didn’t dampen the spirit of Oaktoberfest. Community members came together to enjoy the festivities, proving that even a little rain couldn’t stop the fun.

Oaktoberfest has a monumental impact on the students of River Valley. The support and proceeds generated through the event help provide students with hands-on activities, field trips, and unique experiences that might otherwise be out of reach. Just last year, the River Valley Mustangs Foundation helped fund a high school band and choir field trip to New York City, where students had the opportunity to experience not one, but two Broadway shows. These grants give students opportunities to learn, explore, create, and make lasting memories beyond the traditional classroom. Oaktoberfest is a wonderful example of what can happen when a dedicated community comes together to support its schools and students—and its impact continues long after the festival ends.

More than just an Oktoberfest celebration, Oaktoberfest is a true reflection of the community spirit that makes Three Oaks special. Friends, families, local organizations, and visitors came together to enjoy good food, music, laughter, and one another’s company while celebrating the arrival of autumn. As the leaves begin to change and fall settles into Harbor Country, Oaktoberfest has become a cherished River Valley tradition—one that brings people together while giving back to the students and schools at the heart of the community. Prost!
